To add to the fun, they had a slumber party with their cousins, Bryce, Makenna, and Carsen. The night began with making bread. We started with grinding the wheat and ended with eating LOAVES of hot bread. While we were grinding the wheat, I explained to the girls that when they buy flour in the grocery store, it originally comes from wheat just like this. Bryce gave me a strange look and said "You mean it comes from these sunflower seeds?" I laughed so hard. They had never seen wheat before. Why would they? Only "peculiar" Mormons keep barrels of it in their basement.
Aside from eating the bread, they all loved coating their hands in oil and kneading the dough. There is always something exciting about getting your hands dirty!
After their tummies were full of jam, honey, butter, peanut butter and lots of bread, they "comfied up" the living room to watch a movie. The younger two had to hit the sack but we moved them out with the rest of the kids when everyone went to bed. It was a great day with seven FANTASTIC kids.
